The single page course element allows you to create your own HTML pages with text, images, links, videos or VR content and to integrate and display files. With the external page course element, you can also embed external web pages in your course.

Overview

In the single page course element, you can read HTML pages created by the course author and view other files such as images or videos.

Functions for users

When you open the course element, the stored content will be displayed in the middle of the page. As the tutor individually designs the page, each single page course element can look different and contain different elements such as links, media or interactions.

Information

You can be assigned extended rights by a course supervisor. These rights will make additional functions, such as editing the page, available to you. For more information on these functions, see the Functions in the course view section.

General configuration settings

In the course editor, you will find the following configuration tabs:

Title and description

Page content / Configuration

In the Page content or Configuration tab, you can assign a page resource to your course element. You can either use an internal page (single page course element) or an external page (external page course element).

Single page course element

By clicking on the Select or create page button, you can assign your course element specific existing or new content. For more information, see the Select, create or upload page section.

If there is already some assigned content available, you will see the following buttons: Open page in editor, Delete page and Replace page. The options offered by these buttons are described in the Open, replace or delete page in the editor section.

External page course element

To integrate an external page, use the external page course element. The options in the Configuration tab are explained in more detail on the Configure an external page course element help page.

Multilingualism

In this tab, different translations can be added to individual course element areas.

Copy a single page course element within a course

Note on copying a single page course element

If you copy an already fully configured single page course element within the course, the reference to the HTML file used will also be copied. This is the standard behaviour when copying course elements. For a course element of the type single page, this means that the same file will then be displayed for both course elements. If you edit this file later on, e. g. at one point in the course view, the (same) modified content will also be displayed at the other course element location.

To add a different file to the copied course element, you can use the Replace page function in the Page content tab in the course editor and reference another or a new file.

In the course view, you can use all the course element functions available to users, but also the following additional functions:

Application examples

  • Embed files with VR content: This page explains how to integrate VR content that is available in the WebGL format.
  • Insert VR content: VR content that is already stored on web servers can be integrated into a page via embed code. This page contains an example for the display of 3D models.

  • Provide links (blizz): Links can also be placed on a page in several ways.
